12:30pm-2:30pm
Lead By: Peter Rogers
Break out of the improv semicircle!
The "stage picture" — how the actors are arranged onstage — has a powerful effect on the audience. The audience may not hear every word of dialog, but they know what they see. That stage picture makes an audience feel the story, the relationships, and the world unfolding onstage.
Workshop D: Award Winning Moments
12:30-2:30pm
Lead By: Velvet Wells
In this 2 hour workshop, explore character accusations and confessions, hopes, and feelings as theatrical responses to scene offers. Through asides and monologues, we'll discover relationship histories and future dreams to inform our partners and ourselves within scenes.
Workshop E: Exploring Your Suggestions for Fun and Profit
3:00pm-5:00pm
Lead By: Claire Biddiscombe
Suggestions are offers from the audience and in this workshop, we’ll look at how we can honour these offers like the gifts they are! We’ll practice pulling apart suggestions to find inspiration in even the simplest word, and work on initiating scenes that use our suggestions in rich, interesting ways.
Workshop F: Shut the f&*@ Up!!! - Silence is your Friend
3:00pm-5:00pm
Lead By: Small Fish
Let’s be honest- improvisers LOVE to yap. But what if you’re just SO funny, you don’t need to use your words? In this quiet getaway of a workshop, you’ll find the beauty in a well placed pause, build delicious tension through stolen glances, and learn how to start a great scene without dialogue gumming up the works. Maggie and Glenys will teach you the art of slowing down, and becoming the most observant, patient, and present scene partner of all time. Join us as we extract the jokes that live between the lines!
Workshop G: Music Fundamentals for Improv
5:30pm-7:30pm
Lead By: Chelsea Fahey and Frederick Gietz
Join Frederick and Chelsea for a fun workshop that will focus on approachable ways to create an improvised song with confidence. The workshop will cover the basics of song structure and how to develop a song from scratch with other players.
Improv experience is required, but absolutely no musical/singing experience is necessary.
